How to sync phone contacts to google?

Hello everyone,

How to sync my phone contacts to google? i have over 500 contacts which are saved in phone. I want to sync or export everything to my google mail contacts.

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

Here are other ways to backup everything

Make sure you backup everything

Settings -> privacy -> Back up my data and Automatic restore should be selected

and also

SMS/MMS/Call Logs

Install "backup SMS+" to back up your SMS, MMS and Call Logs to your Gmail

download the app, transfer it to your SD card

download the apk on your computer, send it to yourself through email, make sure you send it to your Gmail

wait for the email, once you get the email, open it, and instead of downloading the attachment it will allow you to install it, voila, done

3rd Method

BOX and upload the apks from any computer

install the App on your phone -> open BOX -> tap on the app -> install it

I tried this but is there any way to sync existing contacts automatically? Something like auto sync?

yeah it should be synced

go to settigns -> accounts & sync -> google -> sync contacts

also

Settings -> privacy -> Back up my data and Automatic restore should be selected

and don't forget that

settings -> accounts & sync

both must be selected

background data traffic & activate auto-sync

and you should have a data plan or wifi connection, it will take few minutes but it should work.

all the above options u mentioned are selected but for some reason its not showing up in my gmail contacts. but i exported all the contacts as vcf file and imported in gmail contacts. now its showing up. But going forward if I save a contact in phone will it be synced to google automatically?

yes, yes they will, test it, add a random contact then just wait for the syncing icon to appear -> check your gmail -> contacts

Thats really easy, I am using Xperia J and desperately wanted to have answer to this particular question. I tried the steps mentioned by you, and bingo i saved a copy of my contacts over the Box account (Thanks to Sony i got 50 GB storage free space over there!) as .vcf fiel (the default of a contacts file)

Hello all,

I have tried backing up my contacts via:

1) creating a vcf file. Even though the phone seems to produce the file, I can not see it in the SD card folder once connected to the PC

2) sending contacts. An error message comes up saying "cannot read memory card"

3) syncing with google account. I have set to sync with my google account and I have ticked the box back up my data. However I cannot see the contacts apearing in my google account.

Can anyone help please? It's an Xperia ST18 from 2011 or 2012

Back ground --- I have a Sony Xperia M phone . I have changed the service provider to Air tel .Now I am not able to send sms which sony service center asks me to format the phone .

Request is - Now before formatting I have to transfer phone number & other data to google for back up . Need to support with procedure asap
