It Doesnt Download The Update over the air and when connected to pc companion it tells me to drag down the status bar and choose mtp connection for media sync but its not there? how can i update my phone now??

make sure you backup everything, you can install Backup & Restore app, works with the Arc and Play

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

or your SMS use

backup & restore SMS

one last thing

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

i've done that already it says it has the updated version already but i went ahead and reinstalled it anyway but nothing changed.

Thanks but I have done all that and it does not work, the Verizon US version of the Xperia Play does not have that option....

if you can't get 2.3.3 on your play is bc either verizon or se hasn't released the update (most likely vzn)

then why am i getting a notification on my phone saying Software Update? it says,

to begin software update, the phone will turn off WiFi.

WiFi will be set to ON at the end of the update.

do you want to continue?

If you take no action, the download will begin in ...... mins.

i clicked yes once and nothing happened besides the wifi turning off and then i tried not doing anything and nothing happened anyway.

perhaps the update is there thats why you get the notification but vrz won't allow you to have it just yet
