Experia xa ultra screen does not turn on/off when pressing power button, screen goes static 1 sec

Hi. I'm new to this forum and just got the sony xa ultra.

I've had the phone for 9 days now and started having an issue yesterday. Even though I press the power button, the screen wouldn't turn off. Pressed 3 more times and it finally turned off. Then today, had the same problem except I was trying to turn it on, and on the third try, the screen turned on but was all static/flickered for one second before going back to normal and allowing me to put in my password to unlock.

I have not dropped my phone and have been super careful with it. Not sure if this is a screen problem or a power button problem. I've already restarted my phone but problem still occurred. I;ve read from past forums that other experia models have had similar issues with the power button. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue?? Would love to hear feedback and a solution.

I'm so sorry to hear about that.

Do you remember if you installed a new application or if you updated the software in your phone yesterday?

I'd recommend that you start with rebooting your phone in safe mode, just to make sure that this isn't caused by a third party application that you have installed in your phone.

I understand that if this doesn't happen every time you turn the screen on or off, it's not that easy to replicate.

If you experience the same behaviour when the phone is rebooted in safe mode, try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.

This will delete all data stored on the internal storage in your phone so it's recommended to backup using Xperia Companion before you start with the repair.
