Heya everyone. I've just gotten an Xperia XA but

1) the battery drains out pretty fast overnight. which apps are safe to remove that will not affect the performance and running of the phone?

Previously the phone would last me about half a day. I then stumbled about a method to preserve the battery power.

- at the bottom of your home page near the base of your phone, you will see a left arrow, a five sided shape (pentagon) and a square.

- Tap on the square

- you will see all the apps that are running on your phone in the background

- for the apps that you want to close, simple tap on it and swipe it to the left. That app will no longer be running.

After doing the steps above, right now I would say that a full charge lasts me an entire day. However I know that this is still not right cos the battery can perform even better. Which is why I think I can achieve this by removing the unnecssary but safe apps that won't affect the phone.

2) at times the speaker mode during a call or watching a video clip can be very soft even when the volume has been set to the maximum? what can i do to make the volume louder?

3) Is there a need to get a screen protector for the XA? which brand would you recommend and why?

4) What about a back case? I've dropped the phone twice yesterday and today cos I fell asleep on the bus. I was gutted with myself and I seriously want to take better care of my phone. Can anyone recommend a good brand?

5) is there another way to unlock the screen without having to use the power button by the side of the phone?

Solved issues

1) power button not receptive and not working properly to unlock the screen

2) phone prompts that SD card is faulty and cannot be read. phone attempts to repair the SD card but process hangs at 20% and phone prompts that the SD cannot be erased.

for both these problems

- I plugged the phone into the computer

- opened xperia companion and

- clicked on repair

and these problems disappeared after the repair process was completed.

The phone is really good, clean and sleak to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking to get an entry level phone thats stylish without busting the bank.

I had nothing.

Maybe #3: Tempered Glass. Either find a Japanese made one or buy lots of Chinese ones on ebay

I've been using my xa with no screen protection since July last year and so far there isn't a scratch or mark on it . Only protection is a orzly slim fit case(highly recommended) and protrudes just enough to protect the screen besides all the tempered glass screen protection I've seen is either hideous or doesn't fit properly
The xa can easily achieve 4hrs+ screen time and a day of use doing everything but playing graphically intensive games.
Unfortunately without root the power button is the only way to wake up the device
