I've noticed that, when I press my power key to unlock my phone, there is a (seemingly-increasing) delay before it actually happens.

This is probably due to you removing the back cover

Well, for a start, I never actually did remove it.

Also, that was a month ago; this delay issue has only started in the last couple of days.

Either or, contact your Local support to get it inspected, if you indeed removed the back cover it will void the warranty.
