Update to the latest system cause the Bluetooth problem!

Hello.

I met a problem after update to the new firmware on my Xpreia P (LT22i).

When I got this phone (the original Android OS verison is 2.3.7), I paired a Bluetooth GPS receiver with my phone by input PIN code, the pairing procedure was successful and they worked very well.

But when I update to the latest system of Xperia P (the new Android version is 4.0.4 and the new Build number is 6.1.1.B.1.54), the Xpreia P can not connected to the Bluetooth GPS receiver anymore.

Now, when the GPS application tried to connect to the GPS receiver, the phone screen will appear a "Bluetooth pairing request" dialog, then I input the PIN code and the dialog disappeared immediately, and then the phone screen appeared the message "Unable to connect device".

This circurmstance always occured while the GPS application tried to connect to the Bluetooth GPS receiver.

(always appeared a "Bluetooth pairing request" dialog and fail to connect device after input PIN code)

I tried to use this Bluetooth GPS receiver on Xperia ion (LT28i) (Android version is 4.0.4) and Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android version is 4.1.1), they both worked profectly.

I got another Bluetooth GPS receiver (different brand) and the Xperia P still not connected to it.

But it could work normally before updating, so I wonder that the latest updateing for Xperia P have some bug about Bluetooth!

Does anyone have this trouble ?

Same problem here with my polar heart rate monitor!

Same android version and build number.

The HRM works perfectly with my old phone, Nexus one android 2.3.6

I encountered the same problem with a serial-to-bluetooth coverter. I just bought the XperiaP because of it's superbright display. That should target perfect reading in a sailplane, when using the smartphone for flight navigation, connected to several instruments, all of them delivering data via RS232. The old-fashioned RS232 is standard for navigation data communication.

Hi,

I wrote a simple App for test only.

This App can register a Bluetooth SPP service on Android phone,

you can use a PC that has inside Bluetooth (or a BT dongle plugged) and BlueSoliel software installed to connect to the Android phone.

I have tested this App on Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 and HTC One S, the PC can establish a connection with them successfully, but Xperia P can not be connected successfully, it will pop a "Bluetooth paring request" dialog every time when the PC tried to connect to Xperia P.

Dear Johan,

in my case dealing with flight instrumentation, there are four BT-Adapter being used - links below. All of them share the issue, connecting Smartphones to serial devices, but the bluetooth pairing is likely to be OK. These devices mainly use the NMEA 0183 protocol with some proprietary extensions. So far, I assume you would need information about the flight instruments.
The old fashioned flight instrumentation is about using stand-alone instruments, being certificated by civil administration. The up-to-date mainstream targets integration of many information sources on one computing device, gaining additional features. The main features of the computing device itself should be (in order of appearance):

- Brigth display (main feature of XperiaP) - pilots prefer flying in daytime good wheather condition.

- Rock steady over-all function

- Long running time and low power consumption

- Rock steady mechanics

If it helps, I could provide you with a single setup of hardware out of the crowd. Due to the fact, flight instruments are very expensive, further hardware support is out of my reach. Therefor: would it be helpful to provide testing hardware? I could make a call for in forums, frequently visited by manufactureres as well.

... on xperia P and xperia Go, the Bluetooth SPP protocol is broken. Most BT devices GPS, Flight instruments, medical devices uses the BT RFcomm or SPP Protocol. Google has fixed this problem in 4.2.2, maybe sony will have a look as well (backport) ...

The project has been testing and been investigating this. But are not able to replicate the issue on tested devices. Please state HW and SW of your Bluetooth devices for further investigation.

Hello everybody,

I have the same problem with connection to BT devices such as external GPS receiver.

My cell phone is Xperia P running latest 4.0.4 android ICS build number 6.1.1.B.1.54

I tried to connect to NOKIA LD-3W External GPS receiver

I paired it in BT menu enter code 0000, from the menu it seems to be paired properly

But when I try to connect to the external receiver from application such as Bluetooth GPS Mouse

It every time ask to enter pin again and again.

Note: I check it with my colleague xperia P running same build with same results

Note2: Same scenario but different mobile phones e.g. Samsung galaxy SIII, Nokia E52, everything works fine.

Note3: try the same scenario but with different BT device (BT OBDII car scanner – ELM327 Interface) with same results means both Xperia P are not able to connect to this device always asking for pin and wont connect, other mobile phones (E52, Galaxy SIII) working without a hitch.

So conclusion from my observation is that must be something wrong with BT on Xperia P running latest build.

I’m waiting for JB update and hopefully SONY will fix this issue and also issue with GPS that I mentioned in another thread because otherwise I have to return my xperia to seller and definitely will never buy Smartphone from SONY again.

hello everybody!

I have the same problem with the "Bluetooth pairing request" each time my SONY-LIVEVIEW-WATCH wants to connect to the SONY-XPERIA P(!!!!!). That's very, very annoying, I think you can understand this!

Fortunately, all other devices, which have been paired and connected before the update still work fine (car-bt, headset, ...)

I wonder where the bluetooth-option has gone, where you can just tell the phone, that once a device has been paired, it does not has to ask each time this device wants to connect!!! Interestingly, after "OK"-ing the bluetooth parinig request, the connection is stable and the watch works without any problem (unless you count the known instability of the watch itself :smileywink:) ...

my phone's internals:

buildnumber - 6.2.A.0.400

Kernel - 3.0.8+

android version: 4.1.2

please help, I like the phone very much and don't want to change to another brand...

Hi I have some kind of the same issue.

I am using an Series RS232 to Bluetooth adaper to communicate with a Maegasquirt fuel injection via apps in my phone.

It worked last summer when my phone were new, now it doesn´t, it goes like this:

I have tried three apps:

The phone finds and pairs nice with the adapter Device, named EFI Analytics 07.

But, when trying to use it it goes bananas.

The Shadow dash:

Having paired the device (EFI Analytics 07 adapter)

Starting the app, choose connect BT, I get a list were the EFI Analytics 07 are presented as paired, I choose and get asked for the PIN 1234. It tries to connect but never does. I disconnect and try to connect again then the EFI Analytics 07 device no longer exists as paired, I do a search for devices and it gets presented in the list as other devises.

I choose and try to connect, get asked for PIN and then gets info from the app that the device is not paired and that I need to do so in the cellphones settings meny.

The Shadow logger:

I can confirm that BT pairing problem still persist in latest 4.1 JB version...

Question is why nobody responsible replies to this forum?

What we need to do to address this issue to competent person?

What do we have to do to convince Sony to focus on this issue?

It is shame that this scenario (issue) was working with GB 2.3.7 version but not working with newer version

Sony wake up! and fix this issue asap.

Scenario:

try to pair Xperia to NOKIA LD-3W External GPS receiver or BT OBDII car scanner – ELM327 Interface

Actual: system again and again ask for pairing code

Expected: system paired successfully after enter correct paring code

note: latest working build JB 2.3.7, all newer version are affected
