Wi-Fi does not turn on

Wi-fi on my Xperia U can not be turned on. When I am trying to turn it on by touching the appropriate item of the settings menu it does not start but turns immediatelty to "off" status. Resetting did not help. OS: Stock Android 2.3.7, firmware version will be checked if necessary.

What can it be? Software bug -> update of firmware might help or it is a hardware default?

I suggest that you try to run a software reinstall using SUS.

If the problem still remains you should contact your local support team, to have the phone examined and fixed at an repair center.

I've got the same problem, when I try to turn on wifi, it just says "turning on wifi" for a while before turning off again. It only started doing this when I upgraded to ICS a while ago. I didn't have this problem when I was still running Gingerbread (although I didn't turn it on regularly so I'm not entirely certain the problem didn't exist towards the end). Would this still be a question of reinstalling ICS?
