Not able to upgrade android version

HI Sony Support Team,

I am a new user of SonyXperia U. I bought mobile yesterday and tried updating my mobile from 2.3 to 4.0. I Installed Sony PC companion. and tried the process of Updting. But everytime after prepare step (step no 2) it asks me to diconnect my phone and then switch off and connect again by pressing down volume button. But nothing happens after that(only my cell gets starts charging again). Is there drivers to be installed.. Or is there anything else I m missing? Please help me solve the issue at the earliest.

Does the phone remain off and give you a solid green notification light at this stage?

@roldan0716 is your phone network branded or was it network branded (locked to a carrier)?

I am on 2.3 wanna to upgrade to ICS, but PC Companion says your device is up to date!! how can I/we upgrade our xperia U to ICS?? Please help me/us to solve this issue. Thanks

i face exactly same problem when tried updating software... onto Xperia U.

Check sony update service too.
