So what's Sonys take on this? If you look at the screenshot, you'll notice that the actual vertical display area is now 1090 pixels (the space between notification and navigation bar). I know a little about CG and this numer is not divisible by 4,8,16... etc. which is usually bad for scaling algorithms.

It's hard to believe no one else noticed this? In general text now looks bold in many places where it was just standard text in 4.1.2, Firefox adress filed for instance.

Immediately after upgrading my Tablet Z (SGP312 Wifi only) to 4.2.2 I noticed that text looked, uh, clumsy in several applications. Here is an example in Play Store settings:

Note: right click to display the full image!

Look how some letters look bold and some don't. It's the same in a lot of other apps like Tapatalk. I did a full reset to factory defaults after the upgrade, just to be sure. It sure looks like the new notification bar at the top causes scaling issues?? Please advise, this can't be right!

I concur. I have noticed the same thing as illustrate above. Adding my voice to let developers know that this is happening and needs fixing.

Yeah this needs to get acknowledged so we can at least look forward to a fix in the next update. I'm also wondering if the scaling over the current resolution, as mentioned by Twincharger, is affecting the image quality for video as well? Can we please get an official word?

I have also noticed this blur text bug. This is the most annoying bug of the 10.3.1.C.0.136 firmware. Some web pages are impossible to read, especially with Dolphin.
