Xperia ray problems with unlocking key pad

After the screen locks itself, I can't get it to come back on. I just end up with a black screen. But the led light works and the backlight. I've taken it to a specialist today, he said I have to downgrade the software. I'm currently using gingerbread. Is he right? Or will upgrading it to ics be better? I just want the proxy thing to work.

You don't have to downgrade your phone. You can try update the phone using PC Companion:
