Software update engine failure (error 100)

Brand new miro on vodafone and trying to update as notified to do so i constantly get error 100, so can anyone tell me what an error 100 is or means before i lose all my hair. Thanks

try a different computer or use SUS instead of PCC also make sure to disable your firewall and antivirus

Have done all of the above on four different pc's and get the same error 100, so what is error 100

Screen shot of what the words 'error 100' are a big clue are they not? Update gets half way in last part of 'installing software to phone' and gives error 100?

have you try

1) a different computer?

2) a different computer with SUS NOT PCC but SUS?

3) have you disabled your antivirus and firewall then run SUS?

4) have you unlocked your bootloader?

4) Bootloader? and if it invalidates warranty on a phone three days old then no.

Yep tried that too and message in update centre say's 11.0.A.5.8 pc companion required 0.1mb ' you can only use a computer to update your phone' so will not allow update via wifi.

this is quite interesting, 2 options

1) it could be a Sony server issue, which has happened before and it was back to normal few days later

2) take your phone back to Vodafone

Will keep trying update just incase it is a server error and will also try the vodafone route asap and update thread with any info i get.

Any idea what error 100 actually means?

Still no luck with update so will be going to vodafone asap but just to have the correct info with me is there any sony staff on here who can tell me what an error 100 is please?

So ive been to vodafone and the phone was factory re set and about an hour later the phone says update available so i attempt update and i get exact same error 100 yet again, brand new phone and im getting tired of this so i will ask again what is error 100 please?

Still no replies for my error 100 question so im guessing official sony staff dont frequent the forum very often?

After a week of haggling and reset after reset i have had the handset replaced with a new one and no problems so far. Vodafone tech eventually discovered it was a hardware fault (so im guessing thats what error 100 is?) and not software related. So i would suggest that if you get the error 100 screen when updating then get the handset replaced as without offical word on what the code really means it seems to be a hardware fault. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem in the future.

hey i have the same problem...but u mean if we replace the handset and then try the new update available option ...wil it work..
