Most likely a black screen is caused by motherboard or LCD (or both) broken.

Usually this issue is covered by standard warranty (if display is not cracked) but I suggest you to check the warranty policy for your country using the following link

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/support/phones/xperia-ray/support-documents/

Dear Sir,

I hope this mail find you in well

I have Sony Xperia Ray phone and I have problem with this phone (Black screen ) this problem about one month ago after every call or anything to use in phone I need to shut down for 1 hour to bring the screen back …..

I called the technical support center in Jordan 080022023 / Amman, and they gave me method to do but it did not work ..

Also, they told me if this method did not work, I have to contact their Distributer / Agent in Jordan (+96265516799) Amman – Jordan.

I called him, and he claimed that the problem in the hardware not the software and I need to replace the screen with a new one (without any examinations!) .......

The phone is new, and it should be under the warranty, correct? So why I need to replace the screen???????

Over that, the distributor informed me that the cost of the new screen is 170 USD , while the total cost of the phone itself in the local market is 180 USD ??

Dear Sir… I am one of your customers and I am hereby raising my claim to you, in order to take the necessary action

Thanks in advance
