1. Will Sony released the Android 4.4 firmware upgrade for the Xperia Go (after Google has released the source code)?

This is because Google Android 4.4 Kit Kat has been rumoured to supports older phone as older as Android 2.2 Frozen Yogurt.

I just hoped that Sony takes part on giving the updates to every older Xperia device.

Yes 4.4 is well optimized for even phones with 512 mb ram according to Google but keep in mind that it is for naked 4.4 not with all stupid ram consuming apps such as phone app or messaging app.So until Sony Mobile sees that, and gives low memory phones an raw 4.4 update as an option, this phone is dead for updates.

I really wish we could have that "Google Edition" for every Xperia Phone from Sony Update Center and then they'll give the full Sony version of the new android for the devices they prefered.Sadly, the phone i bought 1 year ago is dead and it is really hard to use with its apps that ruins the phone calling and messaging fast. All i got is unlocking bootloader and hoping someone would do a 4.4 build for GO.

Also please dont paste any links for phones slated for upgrades where Xperia Go is not listed. This does not help as I have already read all of them on the Forum.

FYI...

Hi,

even when Sony is lazy or sees no point in updating older phones, it is still possible to update your phone because there are people who develop for our device as their hobby.

I have KitKat 4.4.2 on my xGO and wrote small how to, it was first time for me to do any of this and it took about 2h to do:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/Xperia-Go-KitKat-4-4-2-CM11-install-guide/m-p/515137

If it wouldn't render my BT carkit useless I would've done that already.

As for KitKat, folks, forget it! Sony has never properly supported this device. The only way to make it run smooth is by downgrading to Gingerbread. Let's face it, that's not a viable solution. We're just stuck with phone that has been deserted since day one. They patched it up on two occasions and failed miserably. It's become clear that this lack of customer service is starting to show in Sony's global market position. Photography, Mobile, Audio, Television, Computing, etc. They are losing their dominant position in all aspects because of the relentless strategies they continue to uphold towards customers. If they hadn't been so foolish, they would probably still have one of the strongest market positions today.

I'd hate to say I told you so, Sony
