Java incompatible

I have followed how to change my JAVA settings on my MAC using Apple support but Bridge for Mac is still saying my Java is incompatible

I am having bad sound quality and noise intermittantly during my calls, the Live CHat operator recommended a 'Repair'

I have backed up my phone but I can not use the repair option as I it says my Java is incomaptible.

I have follwed instructions to paste text into 'Terminal' (Utilities Folder)

I have checked for software updates.

I have spent two hours reading and trying, help would be gratefully received.

I'm sorry to hear Bridge isn't working for you, which version of Java are you using?

Definitely follow David on this one as he knows Bridge for MAC better than most of us. However have you tried simply updating the version of Java:

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

I don't know how to find out which Java I have? I had a look round 'About this Mac'

This is what the Apple help says,

Mac OS X 10.6 and below: Apple's Java comes pre-installed with your Mac OS.
Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and above: Java is not pre-installed with Mac OS X versions 10.7 and above. To get the latest Java 7 from Oracle, you will need Mac OS X 10.7.3 and above.
If you have Java 7, you will see a Java icon under System Preferences.
Java versions 6 and below are listed in the Java Preferences.app located in the Applications > Utilities folder on your Mac.

I am using a MacBook with OSX 10.6.8

So I should just have it already? Thanks

I would still advise following the above link to ensure you have the latest version, it won’t cause any harm to check this way.

Hi kbob,

I'm not sure what version of Java you have withc 10.6.8. So I would advice you to try the link Sam posted and get back to me. Without more information there's unfortunately not a lot I can do to help you.

Thanks guys,

I have tried to work out what Java I have, this is what it is saying on JAVA.COM

I have done 3 updates this week, there is nothing in need of updating...not sure what to do next...

For Java versions 6 and below, Apple supplies their own version of Java. For Mac OS X 10.6 and below, use the Software Update feature available under the Apple menu to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java 6 for your Mac.

If you have problems with Java 6, contact Apple Technical Support. Java.com does not provide a download for these systems.

And today, error messages have been appearing on my screen non stop for several minutes and then nothing for a while.

'Read error. Unable...'
