scn shooting mode the camera with the new update gives an error, does anyone have info?

Hello people,

Bought my Xperia L almost 2 months ago...been using it extensively since then!

Recently I noticed that while shooting videos, the camera loses focus midway and remains out of focus till you stop recording the video. To refocus it, I have to switch to the 'Normal' mode and then back to 'Video' mode of the camera. Till the point when it loses focus, the video quality is excellent, but after that point, it screws up the remaining part of the video.

Is it a software issue or a hardware one?

Please if anyone has resolved the problem then let me know.

I have an xperia l and its camera just stopped working all of a sudden and everytime I try to open the camera it says "camera has stopped working", its not been a month that I've bought this phone. Please help

updated to 4.2.2 n India via SUS..camera in Video mode geting "Unfortunately Stopped" after 2 min or so while recording :smileyworried:..never had this problem before the update..any help would be appreciated

Hello Soumya

I recorded a video for 3 minutes constantly taking the 1M snapshots so that it may trigger the crash you mentioned. Neither the video crashed while recording nor while taking snapshots. I suggest you do a repair. But you can also wait if anyone else has the same bug.

I have the same problem, bought the Xperia L yesterday and when pressing the camera button or activating the camera from apps, get the message 'Application Camera unfortunately stopped working' (in danish)

I have installed the latest android version and tried to disable both 'camera common' and 'camera extension´ restarting the phone and starting the apps again with no success

I tried the error correction application, but it fails on a driver install

I am going to install a camera app from market to see if it is a pure app problem or if the phone is faulty

If you have installed a microsd card try to remove it and check if issue is the same

If camera app works fine without sd card make a deep format with NTFS file system

When I press the camera icon it says "unfortunately camera has stopped ", then you have to press ok & it closes. Did the diagnostic test and front camera works but not rear.

I have all latest updates & dont know what else to try

I tried removing the sd card, no difference

I have demounted it, formatted it all no difference

Tried installing another camera app, same problem just withthe new app

Boot your phone in safe mode and tell me if issue is the same

Method 1

Press and hold the power button
Long-press the “Power off” option that appears.
The next dialog box will ask you if you want to reboot to safe mode may pop up. Tap OK
Method 2
Turn off the device.
Press and hold down the power key until the phone vibrates.
Wait until the Xperia™ logotype disappears.
Press and hold the volume down key. The device then restarts in safe mode.
To exit safe mode, restart the device.

Last try is firmware repair with PC companion.

If same issue after this step, go to the nearest sony service center

I have 4.2 JB. I'm so desperate in camera focusing of XL.

In scene recognition, normal mode or what ever mode, if I push haft press that will focus. if i click it to take picture, it will focus again take a blur shot. It is by chance to take a clear shot, neither in touch screen camera button, its the same issue. Sony, please fix.

Have you tried clearing data for the camera application and check if you still get the same problem?

Settings > App's > All > Camera > Clear data.

You could also try to run a reset on the phone and check if the problem still remains.
