Have you tried performing a software repair - Also do have any 3rd party apps that could be causing a conflict - Most of the time a repair fixes these issues

Members including myself have had to uninstall Chrome updates due to the speaker been used when answering calls so you could try that, Open Settings then Apps and swipe to All and locate Chrome - Open and select uninstall updates then clear cache reboot and test - I'd make sure that via Play settings you have do not auto update apps selected otherwise if this does fix your issue you don't want it coming back straight away

I have a simular problem. In my case the phone seems not to know witch speaker it should play the sounds from.
So when i have a call, text, listening to music or something like that the "ear"speaker plays the sounds witch results in me not hearing anything or have to play very loud.

All this started when upgrading to 4.4.2.

Have tried all above with none response.
The sound works for some hours after restart but it's no longterm solution.

Allso the 3,5 jack does not support ANYTHING!
Does not even support the headphones i've got with the phone..
[No support for headset, use another headset or visit Sony Mobile Supportwebplace for more info]

How do i fix this?

Otherwise a awesome phone!
Only this upgrade that **bleep**..

//Dannemann

Hi everybody.
I'v just bought the Z1 and after updating to 4.4.2 this problem occures. My sense is the sound makes quiet like as function than inserting headphones for preventing ears crushes. If I tap any buttons on screen - sound makes normal. Restarting of device solves problem till now (about 10 hours), but people above says that is not solution.
May be developers could solve the problem?

P.S. One of my familiars said that problem occures if using not sony headphones. Anybody knows is it so?

Hi, I also faced the same issue after i dropped my phone. The impact is so bad that many functions were faulty.

One of them was ear speaker, the voice from the opposite party is tinyyyyyyy soooofftt ~ it works perfectly when I plug in my earpiece .

I was told by the technician that it was my screen protector that is “blocking” the voice.

After collecting the phone back, everything is working fine, I did not use screen protector for a couple of weeks until today. The same issue returned.

My Xperia Z1 has been having speaker issues for quite sometime now.

It plays sounds on its own will for a few seconds, and then stops working for another eternity.

Its received no update to hinder its working, it has no malicious software on it, nor any 3rd party apps. It's not even rooted and even has kept away from water in special protection. Even then this problem is occuring time and time again.

I am clueless on what's to be done.

Can anyone help?
