I regret that I didn't specify my problem fully when starting this thread, so here goes. I was given a Sony Xperia J as an inducement to continue my contract with O2. Previously I had a 2g phone with buttons.

I'm not sure if I set up the Xperia properly as my grandson did this for me, but it seems to work, and I have managed to sync calendar, contacts and emails with Outlook. I also installed an 8 gig SD card.

The trouble is that it keeps running out of storage and there seems no way of transferring things from the phone memory/internal storage (are these two separate entities btw?) to the SD card.

What happens is that if I try to install a new app it nearly always says it cannot becase there is not enough storage, even though I only have a few apps. This is frustrating because one is constantly bombarded to download apps, and apparently other smarter users than me don't have any trouble.

Would I do better to reset the phone to factory settings and start again, making sure that it uses the SD card?

Thanks for your help.

You can move media files from internal storage to SD,that should be done from settings-storage.Read more about the memory:

Storage won't show up completely on PC

So, I have a Xperia J. Lately, I have this one problem at transferring my data and documents from the phone storage to my personal computer (either from internal storage or SD Card). When I plugged my phone to the PC with my USB, it wen smoothly like nothing was wrong. My PC could detect the phone and the PC Companion could also detect it. But, when I opened my file explorer and clicked the Internal Storage folder, there was nothing there. The same thing happened when I clicked the SD Card folder. I don't know what's wrong. I thought my SD Card crashed and I lost all my documents but it turned out that wasn't it.

Please help me solve this, I need my documents asap.

Thank you.
