Hi, I've got a X10 mini.

First, notice that the screen is not an old resistive one, so you don't need to press the screen, a contact is enough !

As Suze said, you have to make difference between short contact and a longer one...

For example and practice, if you open a photo (with "album" app), a long contact on the photo will open the zoom function

Concerning your second question, when the phone goes off (economy mode), you can't make it on with the touch screen ! Of course it's a question of security/economy in case your mobile is in your bag or pocket ! What you have to do if using the "menu" key wich is the first (on the left) of the 3 buttons of the mini.

Hope it can help.

Hello Paul and welcome to the forum.

You don't state whether you have the large X10 or a mini. I think the advice is the same, but as I have a large if it is different on the mini's we'll have to wait for someone else to chip in.

It might be that you are pressing not tapping... sounds daft yes!? OK well on the phones a longer press on the screen makes the icon move but a tap should open the application. The difference between a press and a tap is nano seconds and its a matter of practise. Also the screens are far more sensitive than some of the resistive type screens, I know on my sons LG you have to firmly press to get the app open.

If this is not the case and it doesn't matter how lightly/quickly you tap then I would suggest running a repair on either PC companion & the support section of that or via Sony Ericsson Update Service, both programmes are available from the Support part of SE's own website.

Let us know how you get on.

I am a mini pro user. But the problem mentioned here cannot be on mini. Home scree in mini is capable of holding only widgets that too one widget per screen.
