Whatsapp notification not working

Hi all

I have notification problem with my whatsapp after i updated to oreo on my phone.

My notification setting for whatsapp in the app itself as well as in the system notification will not take effect.

I've tried to change it to:

In app - no sound and no pop up

In system - low

But My whatsapp notification kept on reverting back to:

In app - default sound

In system - urgent

My changes will not take effect at all.

This is really frustrating. Anyone know how to fix this?

Backup WhatApp (Settings->Chats->ChatBackup)

Uninstall WhatsApp

Reboot

Install WhatsApp

Import backup

Goto settings

See what happens.

It will take max 20 minutes.
