lost phonebook after system update

after the last systemupdate from sony mobile i lost my complete phonebook

so i started companion te recover my backup that i made when i got this phone bu still no numbers in my phonebook

i have many years sony phones and never a problem with updates

and after i use my backup it should be ok

but its starting to go to the point of frustrating

does anyone know how to fix this

@Filthje: have you tried to check your google contacts account to see if they were backed up on google servers
