I would like to report back that I managed to stop the endless boot loop by using the companion application from the PC. I just followed precisely the steps dictated by that SW. I lost all my data on the phone but finally Oreo was installed properly and the phone booted normally. It is a pity that the update process is not reliable.

Hi I have had the same problem yesterday. After installing the Oreo update, my phone entered an eternal loop. Unfortunately, I am not able to use the sony companion to reinstall the software (companion cannot see my device when plugged via usb cable). Anyone experiencing a similar problem? Thanks

@sigiravia,

I believe that you need to press and hold the volume-down key as you connect the phone to the computer. BUT FIRST you need to hold the power button down on the phone until it shuts off entirely.

Hi,

Exact same problem here. Since last update from this week, the phone is in an endless reboot loop.

@Sony: it is not acceptable that we have to reset the phone to a default state and lose all our data.

Anyone has a way to work around it by booting in recovery mode or similar and then applying the recent update or a patched update from Sony?
