Z3 compact doesn't connect to network

Hi. About a week ago my z3 compact stopped making and receiving phone calls and texts while the mobile web was still working fine. I thought the problem was with the service provider and they changed the old 3g sim to a new 4g sim. Now also the Internet has stopped working and still no calls / texts go through either way. The Internet still works with the old 3g sim.

I've tried manually connecting to network (3g and 4g both) but no luck. Naturally the phone's been rebooted a couple of times.

Anyone had the same problem?

I have two brand new nano SIMs, neither of these connect

Contact your local carrier/network and double check the APN settings.

This is what I would do, I would contact my network and verify that they have activated the new SIM card. The old SIM card should not work at all.

The new one has been activated and the other new sim I have is a pre topped and should work instantly

Follow @Uliwooly's advice and report back to us.

Here some extra steps on running the repair:

Running the software repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps

Running the software repair on Bridge for Mac:
1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.

I've now done this. Earlier when I had the SIM in phone it did not show my own number, now after two reboots the phone shows my own phone number but still won't get service.

Also, at times it says "selected network is not available" - another z3 compact in the same spot with same provider (EE) SIM gives good connection.

It ended up being not a sony problem at all. The phone had been stolen before I bought it but hadn't been reported before now and now it was locked. The one I received as a replacement (same model) works perfectly fine.
