Is the UJ-822Da a dual layer dvd burner ?

Hi there, sorry to ask a silly question, Im half way traveling round the world and My girlfriend and I decided to buy a S3HP, we were told that it was a DL +R DVD burner, I have tried to burn a DL disc and its not reconized, Have I been misinformed, And if thats the case, is there a way I can upgrde the DVD drive to the DL +/- burner, or flash a new firmware and upgrade the one I have??

No, it's not dual layer. No, you can't upgrade via firmware.

It is technically feasible to replace the drive but it's not a job for the faint of heart. You will have to find a drive that has precisely the same form factor and that will probably prove difficult.

Best bet is an external dual layer drive if you really need it.

Hi there, Thankyou for your response to my question.

Bit of a sod as I bought this laptop from a companyt in the UK and on there website at the time, they advertised that this model of laptop had a DL burner..........nevermind. But thanks for you reply.

If you can prove it, report it to trading standards as it's not doing what you paid for.
