CD-Rom Drive is not working!! Help please

Ok my cd-rom has just randomly stopped working. I put a disk in and it makes a random noise like every 10 seconds. It sounds like it's trying to read it, but it's not working. I've tried like 30 different cd-rom's to see if this was the problem but it's not. So any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks a lot. Stu

Welcome to Club Vaio Stu.

I am afraid that this is all too common a problem and the chances are that the drive has had it. However here are a few things to try:

Clean the laser lens with a proprietary cleaner.
Have a look on Vaio Link to see if there is an update for the drive firmware.
Uninstall the drive in Device Manager, shut down, re-boot and let Windows find and install the drivers.

Quite honestly, from past experience, I doubt that any of the above will have any effect, but worth a try.
