It was actually Adobe who told me about their software having being registered not once, but three times !! and advised me to take it back. I also spoke to trading standards and they were not impressed either, so I am just sending it back and will purchase one from another company that I know will sell a brand new one. Next time I will not try to save £80 buy going to a cheapo company and will only purchase from a real company.

Hi All, I am a new user who has just purchased a A497XP for use with work and need some urgent advice. This was purchased from a shop and is supposed to be brand new (I paid £1825.99 !!). But I tried to register the Adobe Elements 3.0 that you get bundled and I couldn't. After telephoning Adobe they have confirmed that my serial on my supposidly new laptop has been used 2 times already !!!. I have contacted the place of purchase and although they are willing to take it back to get a replacement I will have to wait up to 2 weeks !!
Has anyone else had this problem ? Am I making a fuss over nothing as the hardware seems to be working OK ?? I have untill Monday to decide and although I really am impressed with this Laptop I could rather do without the hassle especially if I run into problem in a few months time. Any adive would be appreciated people ! (p.s I am not anti Sony I have PS2 + P910i)

Two days. I would understand but two weeks? Your bundle is not a virgin so who is the culprit? Most likely it is the retailer but you can't discount an adobe serial key gen cracker (although that seems pretty unlucky). I would demand they give you back your Vaio until the new one arrives or you will take the matter to the fair tradinghttp://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/goods-service/computers/fs_b01.shtml

Hi Tony, thank you for good advice, I will try to push for them to get the replacement, I really dont understand why it would take nearly 14 days to get a replacement ! I mean the Sony warehouse in Belgium is not that far away !. I will try to push for a replacement before I send back the one I have now. I know that it could of been a Keygen that caused this, but the fact that adobe told me that I should get a replacement must be a good enough reason to doubt that this laptop is not new and second hand (not once but 3 times according to adobe !!, the serial has been registered 3 times already !). I know you would not get this will a Dell XPS Gen2 ! so hopefully I can get it sorted and not have to get a Dell !!!!!

I would report this to the BSA (british software alliance) or the piracy unit at Adobe themselves. They're obviously providing you with illegal software.

Sorry to say this man but they've overcharged you nearly £400 for that laptop!

B**stards

Makes me sick!!! You expect a certain level of service and when it fails...it can be spectacular!!!

I have to laugh at the 14 days delivery time. This is not restricted to Sony. I just bought a Canon EOS350D camera. part of the deal was a free 256MB flash memory. Sadly I couldn't register for mine as either my address or my number had already been registered. their excuse was that other people put the incorrect number in. This ,may be a reason why your number has been registered already (3x???) My best laugh though was when they said it would take 30 days to deliver because the UK post is slow!!!! What a laugh!!! Now that was Canon. I wish I had saved the e-mail for its humour value:smileygrin:

I hope you get something decent.
{I make that 3 people that I know about who have taken their Vaios back today- pretty poor Sony!!!)

I'm afraid it's a trend now, they make out they're legit - but really they're selling copies and using the same serial, hoping no one will register
