Problem with my Wireless

I've read several similar symptoms on here and other forums - but I am at a real loss.

I've had my Vaio VGNA197 for just under a year and it has worked no problem. The past few weeks I've been suffering from the already reported problem of wireless speeds dropping and then eventually stopping working.

Except my Vaio has now decided that as soon as you turn it on and turn wireless on it totally freezes and can only be turned off by holding down the power button. I then turn it on again - it works for about 5 minutes with wireless, then slows and finally freezes.

On the 3rd attempt to reboot, the laptop forgets it is wireless - no wireless options appear in Network Connections, nor in Device Manager. If I then leave it off for several hours it corrects itself to be able to start the process again.

Its my small business laptop so I contacted my supplier yesterday who I have a maintenance contract with - and who very helpfully told me that they won't do anything until I've done a complete rebuild - which to be honest means an entire day of lost revenue for me and a whole heap of hassle, particularly as I am away and can't access all my software to rebuild it.

Any ideas of what the problem could be - and any fixes?

Try reinstalling your drivers update from Sony Link. Also use Tuneup utilities trial version to diagnose the problem as I sense you have a messy registry problem http://www.tune-up.com/

OMG I think I'm going to puke Tony....

Sometimes we have problems where the desktop in the office connects to the router but won't pick up sites, really annoys me.

I would check VAIO-Link and the Intel site for updates

thanks I will try that.
It has now reached the point where it totally freezes the whole computer and requires me to hold down the power off button whenever I switch on the bluetooth/wireless switch.

It also freezes during shutdown, at the point where it say Windows is Shutting Down. I then need to hold down the power button.

Have you checked for updates on VAIO-Link?
