Recently acquired a Sony Vaio fs115e. Really disappointed with the quality of the display, considering it has 2nd gen x-black with double lamp technology. Uneven backlighting throughout most of the screen, but worst along the bottom edge of the display. Is this a known fault or can something be done?

Your help/tips are all welcome.

Welcome To Club Vaio,

Take it back if it is really bad but all these X Black LCD's have a small amount of light and dark shades near the edges when the screen is displaying a full screen black background. You shouldn't get that at all on a white full screen background. If you are, take it back within two weeks of purchase date for a full refund or replacement . After two weeks it it at the mercy of Vaio Link as the warranty kicks in. Many sing the praises of your model so you should be OK. Here is another weird patent pic A weather repellent device (be Mary Poppins on a windy day)
