Welcome to Club Vaio. In the bios you need to change the order of the drives that the system boots off. Change in your BIOS to boot off F drive first and insert your Recovery disk. You will need to remove Windows 2000 also.

Thanks for the reply.
The CD drive is first in the boot list, and I have also installed the original CD driver that I downloaded from the vaio homepage.
How can I remove win2000?

When I start boot up with the recovery disc. The pc displays the following:

Divice name = MSCD not installed.
No driver found, aborting installation

Try Run/ F:startup and the options will ask if you wish to upgrade to XP home. If that doesn't work try F: Fdisk and do a complete recovery from F:drive Keep the XP number from the green sticker on the base and type it in when prompted. This is the main reason your OS system doesn't recognise the software bundle. It must match the shipping number on the base OS at least as an identifier. Good Luck. I would at this stage get partition pro also and divide your c: drive into 20gig and the d: drive as 60gig. Don't panic.
