On the docking station there should be a phono type plug which is yellow, and two other plugs, one white and one red. Connect your camera to those.

I have tried all the connections including the S-video without success. My query is HOW do you use the software (e.g. Adobe's Premier) to capture analogue video? Every time I try I get some sort of error message. Do I need an additional video capture card? On my desktop everything worked fine and I've been able to capture/export both analogue and DV.

You can not use Adobe Premiere to capture from the TV-tuner card in the docking station. Please use Vaio Zone to record from the external input. That will result in mpeg2 files which you can burn as Video DVD from withhin Vaio Zone.

I dont know how you can work with these mpeg files in Premiere, but there should be a way.

As far as I am aware you cannot use any format of 'mpeg' files within Premiere as this is a compressed format. You would need to have uncompressed (eg 'avi') files if you want to edit them.

I encountered this some time ago and purchased a Canopus ADVC 110, which is good but the bundled software is a little limited.
