I have swapped the memory chips and i get the same non recognition of the second memory chips. So my memory chips are both fine. What does this mean? Does it mean that the connector of the second memory bank has a faulty connect?

I have a PCG FX109K and e-support just does not want to register my product so i am looking for some help as i cannot submit a question to sony anywhere except by phone. All they say is send the machine and i cannot as i am working abroad right now!
The memory is the original and so i know it is all compatible and had been working for more than two years!
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

I'm not too sure about the model but I remember reading a few threads regarding a similar problem. The model in question had a history a loose memory slot. I believe the solution (albeit not ideal) was to wedge a bit of folded up paper between the two memory chips which was enough to push the contacts of the chip and the clip together.

Might work.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. Alas i have tried and it did not work! Not sure if i fully understood your suggestion though. Just a check. If i have done it correctly there is not need to reply and i thank you once again.
THere are two memory boards. ONe works. THe second ( and the memory works i know as i have swapped and it works) i have placed the folded paper on the shaft of the memory board and then forced it into the slot hoping for a better contact.
YOu suggested folded paper between the memory boards. Does this mean between the memory receptors that run parallel and are a about a centimetre apart?
tani

The problem is usually the contact of the slot with the motherboard not the chip with the slot. I believe that some people have managed a temporary fix by leaving the chip in position and placing a piece of cardboard on top to create pressure on the slot when the cover is replaced. I would not overdo the pressure however or you may create further problems with the MB.
