DVD problem

Hi
I've had my K415B for 1 week and it looks like the DVD drive is faulty. It will not open when the button is pressed so I have to use a pin in the small hole to open the tray. When I put a CD or DVD in the drive it is not recognised or plays. Anyone else had problems with these?

You can get a full refund or have the whole unit replaced within the first two weeks. After that you are at the mercy of the Sony-Link mob who don't have a brilliant track record according to the posts here at CV so lucky you.

Contact the Sony and replace a new Dvd driver. It must be the Dvd driver problem and nothing else about the software.

dear john,

I have vgn a-297xp and have save problem with dvd rom regarding recognising cd & dvd. if you find a solution please advise me either,except changing dvd rom.

If it's just a case of the drive not opening, don't panic. Go to C:\Utils and run utils.exe, now when you press the button the door will open
