GRT786M Flickering Screen

I bought this laptop (GRT786M) around 4 months ago and it has always flickered slightly. The screen stays visible, but you can see a slight flicker as if the LCD brightness is going up and down. Ive been meaning to take it back into the store I purchased it fom, but until I complete the work I currently have on it, its not a viaoble. <--humour

Can anybody give me some idea of what the problem might be and if it is an easy fix.

Hi Chris,

I would send it back to Sony as soon as possible, as it's not a good sign.

this happens to me sometimes (same laptop). i usually tap it on the side/ back of the screen and its fine. however if your not comfortable in hitting your laptop dont. i just cant be bothered sending mine back to sony.

It is a good idea to get problems like this sorted out ASAP. If the screen backlight or inverter fails after the warranty period expires then repair is v. expensive.

Actually - any repair on a Sony Vaio is very expensive
