My Sony vgc-lv1s optical disc drive will not recognise any of my (bd-r disc) i need some help please

Hi aubgriff and welcome back to the Sony Users' Community.

I presume that you are still using Vista HP?

What software do you have for playing BD discs? Is it the original WinDVD preinstalled by Sony? If so, what updates have you applied and what is the current version.

There are some firmware updates for the Blu-Ray Optical Drive on the support website. I am not sure what optical drive you have fitted. Check the actual model in Device Manager and see if there is a firmware update here: -

While in Device Manager, are there any warnings against the drive?

Does it still play DVDs and CDs OK?

Ultimately, the drive may be faulty and may need replacement either by another internal drive or perhaps an external drive.

yes am still using vista and using original windvd updated to 8.8.0.282 then 8.8.0.285
my optical drive is mat****a bd-mlt uj-225s. there is no warning against the dvd/cd-rom drives.
but there is against other devices it come up unknown device but that was there from day one.
and the drive still plays other bd discs dvd and cd-rom not my(bd-r disc).
