lt1s wont burn

Hi I have a LT1S with the matshita uj225 bluray/dvd rw.
This has been back to Sony 5 times in the first 12 months.
The reason being it will not burn discs it was ok for the first few months
then would burn some but not all no matter what disc or program I use
Sony just send it back saying there is nothing wrong
Now the warranty is out and it still wont burn
I have reset to manufacturers setting several times as suggested by the Sony technical"experts".
This has made no difference
I have uninstalled the device/restarted and it has reinstalled
Still the same
I have tried to update the device through vaio update
It says no update is needed

the model is vaio desktop LT1S
the drive is matshita uj225s

Any advice would be appreciated as Sony have next to useless
It has cost them more in carriage than to replace the drive !

Hi bellaruby,

what burning software are you using.?

Are you trying to burn to CD or DVD.?

What make of CD/DVD are you using.?

Have you tried using Verbatim, TDK or Sony discs.?

Hi,thanks for the reply,
Ok here goes I have tried sony -r/rw +r/rw
verbatim -r/rw
maxel -r/rw
also cheap brands both +r/rw and -r/rw
Any of these used to work fine then only every now and again would one burn.

I have tried to copy disc to disc (un encrypted discs).
Using nero
clone dvd
click to dvd
I have tried sving the disc to a file and then using vista to burn to disc.
I have tried using windows media center to burn a recorded tv show.

Both nero and clone will read the disc to be copied then when i put in a blank disc(any make) it spins for a few seconds then asks for a blank disc to be inserted.
When using burn to disc nothing happens
When using media center it gets to 60 % then ejects burn unsuccesfull
It will play blu ray and dvd ok

Hi Ok an update

Ihave have some films in mp4 file formatI have pened click to dvd bd

I then imported the file to click to dvd bd

It then converted the file(i am not sure what into)

Then started to burn to a blank disc

And completed!

I am not sure if it will play on my dvd player yet

so I am now trying to make a direct copy of a dvd

as I dont want it converted to any other format

we'll see

another update
Ihave just tried to copy a disc with clone dvd
the original disc was read ok and saved to a temp file
clone then asked for a blank disc so i put one in
it then ejected it asking for another
I tryed two more
when I put a blank disc in and open my computer initialy nothing showed up in the dvd drive
it also says cd drive f(not dvd or bd drive)
after inserting the disc a couple of times it showed 4.7gb free in my computer
but it would still not burn to the blank disc

now I am really confused

???

more info

Have now tried to burn a disc through divx player
Drag divx files to discs select burn
then.... nothing

have tried using the selection 'doyou want to burn a video disc' through autoplay when I insert a disc
Drag files to burn folder select burn
then......nothing

I hope some has got a clue to what is going on here because I haven't

???

I think you've done enough testing to discover if the drive is at fault. I would contact eSupport and arrange a pick up.
