Sony VAIO VGN-FW11E Driver ?

Hi,

Can someone please tell me where i can get the driver for the DVD-RW Drive for the Sony Vaio VGN-FW11E ?

The Make and Model of the DVD-RW drive is MATSHITA UJ870QJ

I looked on the Sony website for the driver but there isn't one for it, i can find all other drivers for my laptop but not the DVD-RW drive.

I got Windows 7 Ultimate on for past few months i have been unable to write to CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs. The drive reads discs fine but won't write to discs, i have formatted the laptop and bought several different brands of discs and just get error messages from different programs i have tried when trying to write to a disc.

It seems that many others have had the same problem as me.

Hi Mat,

The DVD drive uses generic drivers supplied by the Windows Operating System and should install automatically.

What problems do you have with your drive?

What message to you get in Device Manager when you double-click on this drive?

Are there any error codes shown in Device Manager?

If you can give us as much information as possible we can then try to help.

Hi,

Device manager shows no errors, it says the drive works fine etc. There are no error codes or anything, i did uninstall it via device manager but that did not do make any difference.

When i said driver i mean the firmware for the DVD-R/RW drive. This is what i am trying to find to reflash it and see if that helps.

Hi,

I have exactly the same porblem. There are no error message/codes and device manager doesn't detect any problem but I can't use dvd rw after installing windows 7.

Maybe you solved this problem and would like to help me.

I have error 10 and have re tried installing the driver but it wont accept the fix. the problem is the driver for the optical drive.

I have even deleted and and rebooted but still the same.

Any idea the driver software say's that there are 23 different drivers that need updating but they all charge any ideas on the wbsite to udpate?

No errors but refuses to write although device manager reports its working correctly?
