hi there,
i have the PCV-W1 Vaio desktop...unfortunately, it turns keeps turning itself off....any advice?

Hi husainz,

You don't give us a lot of information to go on!

What are you doing when it turns off? Is it during games or high workload? Are you always using the same program?

Look at your temperatures first by downloading MobileMeter - it is designed for laptops but it should work.

Install it and let us know the CPU temperature when in heavy use (like playing a DVD).

sorry, i should have mentioned. its turning off even on completely basic tasks such as internet. it turns on for about 20mins and works fine...i will give the software a go...cheers!

Thanks for suggesting the software. turns out the computer does overheat. I thought i would try something. I opened the top of the pc and turned a standard home fan onto the computer. I turn it on whenever i use the pc now as it seems to cool down the pc and i have never had the problem ever again!

Have you overclocked it at all?
While the home fan works for now, I don't think its the best long term fix.

i agree jumpsuit. its very impractical too...
how do i find out if i have overclocked???
Just one other thing i thought i should let you know - the computer is making a lot of noise since we first got it. I dont know if that is part of the problem or what...
