Anyone notice that there seems to be a change towards the VP, loads more positive comments.

People now starting to see it is an outstanding product..??

New users with no problems setting up or transfering...

Yes we now know the limitations, but work round them...

I,m glad i bought mine.... 🙂

Yes I think you are right. People complaining about the fact that SOny does not often bring new firmwares also works for their camera's. Canon etc. bring out new firmwares two times a week more regular than as an exception. This points to me that most products of Sony are matured and thouroughly tested. And to be honest, most complaints are about SS which in my opinion is not that bad (3.1) I used Itunes on an Ipod Mini and had al sorts of troubles as well (it took 5 minutes to recognize the connection of the Ipod every time !!! 3000+ athlon 1GB memory, 2 x 120 GB HD) the Pocket is up and running in 30 seconds, transfer is about 2 to three times quicker to the Pocket than to the Ipod (either USB 2 or firewire (I have both). Vaio one hangup, due to my own fault pressing to much buttons at once, Ipod 5 hangups within three weeks. One I only could recover by initilating by firewire, it didn't respond to USB at all anymore.

And most annoying, I like non stop music like Jean Michel Jarre, New Age etc. and always a gap between the numbers, only solution : make one big number out of it (no info, no tag's etc)

Music quality is not even comparable, Ipod is not bad but this is much cleaner at both MP3 as at ATract3Plus compared to MP3 and MP4 (AAC). Battery life is about half the time I get from my Vaio, I am Ill and do a lot of listening in bed for many many hours so I clearly noticed the difference. I rather loosen 4 scews....

Itunes shop, did work okay. Only Kraftwerk Tour the France download contains distortions in the low that I can;t remove. Shnia Twain is very flat and has distortion as well, Zucchero one is top one is reasonable.

All in all this industry is still maturing and so we will see new versions coming every knwo and then. But I prefer not every week a new feature....

One great thing about the Ipod is all the gadget s that are avaialable, but than you look deeper and see that you have to watch for if it works with your type and version. If only SOny could deliver a seperate, detachable cable to connect and loadI would completely satisfied.

Yes ¿ I was quite surprised at the somewhat negative slant a few of the postings on this forum have had.

On reflection I¿m glad I let my previous good experience of SONY products make my mind up to buy a VAIO Pocket. Getting it for £199 was the icing on the cake.

Although I have looked at and listen to an iPod I¿ve never seriously considered it. The whole fashion hype surrounding the iPod put me off ¿ although I appreciate it may influence some feeble minded individuals who seeks to be one of the ¿hip¿ crowd.

I thought the construction of the iPod was poor, the screen disappointing ( most pictures you see of it in my opinion have been retouched by Photoshop) and it looks like a Fisher Price toy intended for a 5 year old.

The click wheel was quite nice to operate, but so is the G-Sense pad!

iPod users seem obsessed with the storage capacity and trivia such as what colour iPod is most popular. No- one seems to mention the sound quality which I would rate as mediocre.
The VAIO on the other hand sounds great ¿ it¿s not HiFi, but then doesn¿t claim to be.

I dabbled with a creative Zen and pondered an I-Audio M3, but the VAIO won.

No contest really. It makes me laugh - do iPod users really think that Apple can teach SONY anything about digital audio technology?

Sonic Stage seem to be universally panned and ridiculed but I think this is unjustified.
You click a button ¿ it records the CD
You click a button ¿ it transfers it to the VAIO

What else does it need to do?

I¿m not particularly interested in downloads, just converting many of my CD collection onto a portable device.

I like it and think it is a great SONY product
