There is quite a lot of chat on this forum regarding the cases available for the VP (or more to the point NOT available)
The official case is very rare as it wasn't readily available in the UK (these are the ones eBay)
Examples have changed hands for over £100 , but usually go for about £50 oneBay, such is their rareity.
I manged to get one for "bargain" £40 !!
They were about 10 quid once !
http://www.microanvika.com/product.asp?TXT=INFO&PNO=SON19417
(Don't bother trying they are not going to restock!!)

A company called PDair makes a leather case for the 20GB version but it does not fit the 40GB.
http://www.pdairshop.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=224

However they are in the process of making a version for the 40GB VP

Have a look at the thread

"Leather Cases for the 40gb VGF-AP1L"

Could admin make the "cases for the 40gb VGF-AP1L" thread a sticky one? As it gets older it gets pushed back and new posts regarding the subject get added.

I will keep the thread updated, as soon as I know any more details, I'll post them.

I would seriously advise people to not pay over the odds for the plastic ones sold on Ebay when a better priced leather one is on the horizon.

BLINX32

I have the 40Gb pocket vaio and have just ordered the pdair case - i checked the sony site and the dimensions of the two players are identical at 114.7x63x26.7 so can't see why the pdair case wouldn't fit both - the difference is one of weight with the 40Gb being a little heavier at 200g rather than 190g. The pdair leather case looks like a great buy given the stupidly high prices for the official Sony ones on ebay - its got better features too including the belt clip and a flap to enable it to still be used without the remote without taking it out of the case entirely.

Anyway will report back once I've got it to confirm that it is an ok fit.
