I suggest getting Everest Home Edition and looking at the properties of the CPU, note the type of CPU, FSB and socket type and then use this information to see what CPU you can upgrade to.

Yes:smileygrin:

If I'm think right then the fastest Northwood CPU with HyperThreading has 3,4GHz. Be sure that you buy a Pentium4 C HT with "Northwood" kernel. (the P4B with 3,066GHz supports also HT but it has only 533MHz FSB, the P4C has 800MHz FSB) I don't know whether a Prescott would run. And the Northwood produced less heat. But you would need a better cooling.

But for the 3,4 GHz model, you would need a higher Core-Voltage. That's why a the 3,2GHz model could be the maximum. You can't encrease the Core-Voltage on a VAIO.

yeah:smileysad: If my information are correct, then the 3,4GHz CPU need 0,05volts more than the 3,2GHz CPU. But 3,2GHz are OK, IMO.
