Hi folks,

Got the laptop less than a year ago but all of a sudden it won't charge anymore. Green light is still showing on the power cable but once I plug it into the laptop the laptop doesn'tt charge up at all.

Any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it?

Thanks

There's still a bit of charge in the battery and it works without mains but when the mains AC is plugged in it doesn't charge the battery.

If I take out the battery and just plug in the mains AC the laptop doesn't come on at all.

There is a green light lit on the AC adaptor on the mains cable which I guess means there's power going through to the laptop

Hi JohnDow,

As the machine will not boot with the battery removed it would indicated that either the power adaptor or motherboard power board is faulty.

The fact that the green led is lit on the adaptor is no guarantee that the adaptor is outputing the correct voltage and current. To check this you will need to test it with a multimeter and check the result against the specified output detailed on the adaptor label. If this beyond your capability consult a local PC repairer or talk to Sony Support.

Rich

Message was edited by: rich912

Message was edited by: rich912
