Have a look aFM transmitters here.

These just plug into the MP3 player and you tune your radio into the same frequency. Look at ones which have variable frequency because this gives you the best options.

In a recent post various members of this forum mentioned that there are good deals on e-bay.

I own a tunecast II, and I am happy with it, but it does use batterys ++++.

Disclaimer: For some privative reason you need at broadcasters licence to use these legally in the UK.:smileylaugh:

A cable would need somewhere to plug into. Sadly, no one that I have seen has put a microphone socket at the front of a car stereo...
Seems a bit daft to me.

At the moment I have the tape deck component out of my car system and I just need to work out which wires switch off the radio (and switch on the tape) when a tape goes in. I also need to identify the wires which carry the signal to the amp. Once I've got this sorted I will put a 3.5mm stereo jack at the front of the system and wallah.....MP3 input to car by cable.

This is the only option, other than the things listed on the site above.

Depends on your car... some fit aux-in sockets as standard, others (BMW for sure) allow you to buy them - then you can fit it yourself (if you're feeling brave) or they will do it for you for a small(ish!) fee.

Check with your local dealer...

Have a look at whether your radio has a telephone input socket, and if it has wire it into it's input and job done. Otherwise look at maplins in car fm modulator (L75AY) at £29.99. I recently bought mine for £19.99 and as it is a proper wired in unit, you get a pretty good sound, and no batteries to worry about replacing either.

hi i used an fm transmitter and found it to be a waste of time!! so have wired my V.P into my sony headunit by tricking the head unit into thinking its playing the boot changer

This was possible by leaving the control cable connected to the boot changer and leaving an old music cd in the machine but connecting the audio to the v.p using a headphone jack to rca jacks (red and white plugs) bought from any audio visual shop (about £5) it means finding a place for the cable to exit your dash but when its done its done!!

this was a standard sony head unit in a toyota celica 2002 whether sony still make their boot changers with two cabels i dont know but its possible!!

to mount the player i used a stadard adjustable grip mobile holder mounted to the windsreen turn the holder to the side and it fits the vaio perfectly
