I have just purchased a Sony PCV RX406. When I put any discs into the DVD drive it makes a slight knocking noise as it is accessing a disc as it speeds up its ok. Has anyone else had this problem or is this normal. I would be grateful if anyone could let me know asap as if its faulty I will request a new unit.

i have the sony rxg 408 & i have the same knockin noise as well but again it clears.

I have the 405 and seem to get the clikc and knock too. Seems to work fine though.

Guys, don't be afraid, it is a normal sound, as the drive is putting the disc in the perfect position for higher speed.
Since you only drop it onto the slide, the middle of the disc needs to be detected first, then alligned before the mechanical part can start spinning it up.
