DVD firmware upgrade with a RX306

Hi, I have a PCV - RX306 with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-R104 dvd burner,
At the moment it will only run at 1 speed, I have updated the firmware but there is no option for 2 speed.

Has anyone done this or is there any software I can get to upgrade so as I can burn a little faster

Have you checked the site of vaio-link? http://www.vaio-lin.com.
If there is an update that has been validated to get faster speeds, you will certainly find it there.

If there is no update for you, than I believe it not validated to work at speeds faster than 1x.

I would have to agree. I think some test somewhere suggested that the burner on my machine could also go at 2x, but I have not ofund a way yet. 1x is still plenty fast enough and I think trying to make the drive go faster could really mess things up if it wasn't meant to.
