How do I make my DVD Player on my PC Multi-Region?

I use Power DVD.

You will have to use DVD region free from www.dvdidle.com

Because your drive has RPC2 firmware DVD genie will not work.

Thanx Rob - I have tried the software - you get an evaluation period of 30 days before you have to purchase a release code which costs aoround £30.

Not bad really - as a decent region 1 DVD player costs anything from £70 upwards.

Have you tried the Pro version - the one that caches the data from your drive?

If you have, does it reduce drive access as much as the site claims?

I am new to DVD's on PC's - I don't understand what you mean by caching etc!!

Caching just means that it reads a big chunk of data from the DVD to memory and then uses the data in memory to play the DVD.

It should save battery power (on a notebook) and reduce the time your dvd drive has to run to play a DVD thereby reducing wear and tear on the drive.

Probably not a huge problem for your desktop machine however

There is a slight delay intransfer - not as smooth as my regular dvd player in the lounge - but this saves me from having to chip my Sony DVD player which I have been quoted around £80 to do so.

I 100% agree with you - get rid of Regional Coding as we can still view any DVD's whether it be by chipping DVD's or using softawre on our PC's.

Thanks for the info Rob, I know a lot of Sony DVD drives don't accept DVD Genie well.
