topic Replacing Vaio SZ1 but not with a Sony machine in PCs & Accessories

Well, after about 2.5 years using a Sony Vaio SZ1 I have decided to call it a day with Sony machines and so has my employer (about 5000 employees). The laptop itself is has been great, but a series of (v. expensive)battery failures (usually just outside the 6 month warranty) and problems with obtaining parts have finally persuaded me (my employer's IT dept has been there for a while) that great design and good machine spec just don't outweigh poor customer service. In one case I had to wait 6 weeks for a battery to come into stock. I would have been happy with an aftermarket replacement (much cheaper) but a Sony software update had made sure only Sony batteries would be recognised by the computer. The fial straw is a dodgy cooling fan - Sony no longer stock the part.

The Z series look great and I would love to buy one, but just can't face the problems with parts and customer service.

So long
