The download page for your model has firmware updates for Matshita UJ-850BSX1-J/BSXA-J and Pioneer DVR-K16. other drives may have been fitted to this model for which there is no update.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;To check if Direct Memory Access is enabled for your drive: -&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Go to Device Manager&lt;BR /&gt;Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers&lt;BR /&gt;Double-click on Primary IDE Channel&lt;BR /&gt;Select the Advanced Settings Tab&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is the Current Transfer Mode shown as Ultra DMA? &lt;BR /&gt;If not and PIO Mode is shown then this is your problem and you will need to go back to Device Manager and right-click on IDE ATA/ATAPT controllers, choose Uninstall, OK and then re-boot your Vaio.       <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hello,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I can't update the firmware to my DVD drive UJ-850S. I downloaded it from the SONY site and it says i don't have the right hardware to match the firmware. How is that so?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I'm also having read problems with my drive (playing DVDs and CDs). They are played clipped and with noise in the back. ALL OF THEM.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I really NEED help.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
