Wireless connection

I have the FE31H and was pretty happy with it up until recently when the wireless connections started dropping. I had been using it with no issues for 2 months so not sure what changed. When I went in to view the wireless network connections in an attempt to repair it and continue, I had a screen I hadn't seen before stating "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection" and something about if I had enabled another program to manage the connection to use this. Problem is I don't believe I have done that and if I have I wouldn't have a clue how i would have done this. Any thoughts on what the problem is would be greatly appreciated? I have also had the line checked and it seems to be ok when not using a wireless connection.

Hi Letta and welcome to the forum.

This message often occurs if the Wireless Zero service has been stopped or disabled by a third party program. Assuming that you are still using XP MCE, click Start > Run > type Services.msc and then hit OK.

Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and double click this. Make sure that startup type is ‘automatic’ and then (under service status) click Start.

One quick question though. How do I make it stick? Every time I log off it reverts to the previous status and I have to go back and start it again.

Hi Letta,

Which version of windows are you running and are you logged in with administrator privileges. Also try making the changes with your Anti- Virus program and any other protection disabled.

If that has no effect then make sure that there are no third party programs enabled at startup that also try and control your wireless connection. Click Start > Run and type Msconfig and hit OK > have look on the startup tab…
