Vista Ultimate on AR21M - Camera Problem

Hi All,

First of all, thanks to all the guys on here that have posted their experiences of installing Vista on their VAIO's. I have used many of the tips to set up my AR21M

So have have a done a clean install of Vista Ultimate on my AR21M and I gotta say, it is really sweet, I'm loving it so far.
However, I cannot get the camera to work and have another couple of missing devices

Here's a snippet from Device Manager

I wonder if anyone here has any ideas what these are - everything seems to be working - granted I haven't tried a mem stick yet - any help would be appreciated

Hi folks,

you best check out these two sites:

Driver Compatibility Overview

Sony UK Driver Site AR21M

If you make sure that all appropriate drivers are installed, there should be no more unknown devices.

i think you should install all drivers manually, then you are uptodate on your complete system anyway.

appreciate the links but I've been through these already and i still have two missing plus the camera - the tv tuner driver got rid of the unknown multimedia device

still no joy with the camera - its a nightmare tbh - i use a webcam all the time

Hi. I also have an AR21M, but my only problem is the Webcam is missing despite re-installing the XP drivers for it. I did get a reply from Sony on the subject that pointed me to a hotfix from Microsoft. However the file isn't there for downloading, apparently you have to phone Microsoft first which I simply haven't had time to do. I'll see if i can find the link again and post it later, perhaps somwone else will have the time to contact Microsoft.

I can find the MS Hotfix KB931812 download (attached below) but I don't think it will work without an update to the Vaio Camera Utility which will hopefully arrive later this month.

Try it if you are brave!!!

thx guys - I have tried to resolve using the hotfix and it is still the same unfortunately

blue screen on the cam utility

we'll get there eventually, somehow...........sometime...........
