Is this possible?

Hi all,

Just wondering since purchasing my FE41Z preinstalled with Vista whether it would be possible to put Vista on another of my VAIO machines from my current Vista laptop? Since it came preinstalled there are no Vista discs and such.

My husband is running XP on his VAIO. It's a FS515 and Vista compatible. I've already added extra RAM to his machine. he is using a Vista transformation pack and since using that he wants the real thing

My Vista is obviously legit. I'm wondering if it is indeed possible for me to get Vista from my machine and to install it on his. Is this possible at all? Or, do I have to buy him the upgrade version of Vista?

Any help and steps required (if it is possible) would be greatly received.

Hi Lisa,

Unfortunately if you want to legally install Vista on your husbands Vaio, then you'll have to purchase an upgrade..

Fraid not. Each Vista is licenced to thrill one. Can't have Bill Gates losing money can we. If you attempt to install it will inform you that Bill's swimming pool underwater stereo system needs more speakers to make it sir drowned sound
Home Premium licence OEM Vista is £54 and most computer shops will supply you with a OEM or non retail version if you buy a mouse or some kind of hardware with it. But don't tell Bill I told you....shhhhhh

Pah! Thought so. Thanks for your help.

Before I do that for him, does Vista have any issues running Java programs at all? He plays an online game which is fully ran by Java. I don't want to buy him Vista then he won't be able to run it.

Ohhh niiicee! lol Tell me about that please? The cheapest I've found at the moment is £59 from eBay for home premium upgrade, free P&P. Of course PC World are a complete rip off and charging £100 for it!

Where can I get it from with a bit of hardware or accessory etc?

One of the independant computer repair shops will help if you ask them specifically for the OEM version while promising to buy a mouse..if you ask them cleverley...hehe sorry I couldn't resist. I will get back to you when my matey who bought the £54 Premium actually answers his phone...probably hung over like me.

Buy a £10 USB stick, you're laughing. You could save up to £120 off the retail price.
