help using vaio wireless mouse

hi all
i have a vgn a317s notebook with docking station etc, but i cannot get the wireless mouse to work.any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi parafinlamp and welcome to Club Vaio.

You don't say what you have tried? Presumably it did work previously?

Have you tried the obvious - press the "Connect" button on the mouse and at the same time press the "Connect" button on your Vaio to 'pair' them together? (the Connect button on the Vaio is on the bottom - if you turn the Vaio over it will be in the bottom-lefthand corner).

i have tried just what you have described but just cannot get the mouse to connect. i bought the mouse used, so i am wondering if i would need to install some software to make it work?

it is a sony vgp-wms1. ive just had horrible thought...should i also have a usb reciever to make this work?
